Nonatopic atopic dermatitis versus atopic dermatitis in children Regina Emuzyte
The complex investigations were performed in 134 children with atopic dermatitis (AD). Respiratory allergy was excluded. The control group comprised 17 healthy and suffering from recurrent respiratory diseases children without any signs of allergy. On the basis of clinical, allergological, immunological and metabolical findings three types of children AD were determined: I type – atopic dermatitis (IgE mediated), II type – nonatopic (non-IgE mediated) atopic dermatitis or metabolical, III type - combined with associated immunological (IgE mediated) and metabolical changes. This type is the most severe and the most resistant to treatment. Delayed type hypersensitivity (T cell-mediated) was not investigated. The peculiarities of clinical manifestations and criteria for diagnosis of those types were revealed. Not only IgE mediated allergy, but some other conditions can mimic allergies in children with AD. The dietary measures in children with AD contain two principles: the first - elimination of causative food allergens; the second - limitation of foods, rich in such aminoacids, those changes were revealed according to the prevalent type of AD. Children with AD also need environmental measures of indoor environment controls, because of IgE mediated sensitization to indoor allergens, not only to foods, was revealed.
