Odilija Rudzeviciene, Irena Narkeviciute, Rimantas Eidukevicius

The aim of this study was to establish the importance of serum immunoglobulins G, M, A in the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis and the frequency of lactose malabsorption in atopic dermatitis children with normal and changed levels of these immunoglobulins. We examined 76 children aged 1.5-23 months: 47 children with atopic dermatitis (study group) and 29 nonallergic children (control group). Serum IgG, IgM, IgA were determined, lactose and glucose-galactose absorption tests were performed. The normal, increased or decreased IgG, IgM, IgA blood serum levels in the study and control group children showed no statistically significant differences, so it is no need to determine these immunoglobulins in atopic dermatitis children. In children with both normal and altered (increased or decreased) IgG, IgM, IgA blood serum levels frequency of lactose malabsorption was similar.
